Cloud & Network Infrastructure Engineer

Charles Simon Associates is currently looking for a Cloud and Network Infrastructure Engineer on a permanent basis in Manchester. This role will support one of our longest-serving clients and a well-known business in the North West.

 

Location: Manchester, onsite 2 days per week

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum D.O.E

 

Skills/Requirements for the Cloud and Network Infrastructure Engineer:

  • Previous experience in designing, configuring and supporting an Azure Hybrid cloud environment
  • Extensive Azure experience, ideally within Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Azure Monitor
  • O365 experience
  • Strong networking skills around both Routing & Switching
  • Firewall experience, ideally within FortiNet/FortiGate or any other enterprise-level firewall
  • PowerShell Scripting
  • Solid understanding of Azure and on-prem networking, including subnets, routing, and diagnostics.

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Power Automate
  • Terraform or Bicep

 

Start date is ASAP for the Cloud & Network Infrastructure Engineer

 

The Cloud & Network Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Take ownership of the stability, performance, and scalability of both cloud-hosted and on-premise infrastructure, ensuring systems are proactively monitored and optimised.
  • Deliver and support secure, resilient, and cost-effective Azure-based solutions, including virtual desktop environments, automation pipelines, and core infrastructure services.
  • Lead the technical delivery of infrastructure projects from planning through to operational handover, producing clear documentation and ensuring alignment with architectural and security standards.
  • Maintain and enhance enterprise networking and virtualisation platforms, ensuring seamless integration between cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues, providing expert-level troubleshooting and mentoring to colleagues across the IT function.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to implement infrastructure changes, ensuring minimal disruption and full compliance with governance frameworks.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of infrastructure services by identifying opportunities to modernise, automate, and streamline operations.
  • Support financial oversight of cloud services, including usage reporting, billing analysis, and cost optimisation recommendations.
  • Ensure all systems and services are delivered in line with agreed SLAs, KPIs, and security requirements, with a strong focus on risk mitigation and data protection.
  • Participate in an on-call rota and flexible shift pattern to ensure critical systems are supported during extended business hours and out-of-hours incidents.
